Release Notes: December 2024

As the year comes to a close, we’re wrapping up 2024 with some exciting new features and enhancements to make Ascendr even more powerful and user-friendly. Here’s what’s new this month!

Expanded Deliverable View

  • Tasks are now displayed when you open a deliverable, providing a clearer view of related work.

  • The deliverable popup has been expanded to present more information and improve usability.

  • You can now create tasks directly from within the deliverable page, with the deliverable automatically preassigned to the task, streamlining project setup and management.

Drag-and-Drop in Timeline View

  • You can now drag and drop tasks in the timeline view to change their order.

  • Any changes made in the timeline view will also update the task order in the Kanban view, keeping everything consistent.

Improved Risk Assessment Bar Chart

  • The Risk Assessment Bar Chart on the Companies Dashboard now shows the total ARR for all companies in each RAG status.

  • Hover Tooltips: Hover over a bar to see a tooltip with a table of company name, ARR, and risk indicators.

    • Displays up to five companies, with "+ x more" if there are additional entries.

  • Interactive Filtering: Clicking on a risk bar (e.g., Amber) filters the page to show all companies with that specific risk status.

Unwanted Features (Bug Fixes)

Task Descriptions in Project Templates

  • Fixed an issue where task descriptions were not being copied when converting a project into a template. This has now been resolved, ensuring all task details are accurately retained in templates.

Release Notes: November 2024

This month, we’re introducing an exciting new feature to enhance project management and visibility. Here’s the latest update:

New Features

Project Summary Page

This Project Summary page is designed to give you a high-level overview of project progress, time allocation, and billing status—all in one place.

  • A new Summary tab is now available on the Projects page, providing a quick, consolidated view of key project metrics.

  • Three Toggle Buttons: These buttons allow you to customise the grid by turning on and off columns for Phases, Time, and Billing:

    • Phases: When enabled, this provides a visual representation of deliverables, showing progress at a deliverable level for each project. For best results, filter to view a single project type so that the deliverables are consistent across projects.

    • Time: Displays the budgeted hours allocated to each project, helping track time management.

    • Billing: Shows what has already been invoiced and what remains, allowing for better financial tracking.

  • Grouping by Roles: You can group projects by roles (such as Project Manager or Technical Lead) to organise data based on team responsibilities.

  • Quick Access to Notes: Each project now has an icon that, when clicked, slides out the project notes, so you can quickly review important information without navigating into each project.

Enhancements

Project Details in Task Update Emails

  • Email notifications about task updates now include the name of the project that the task relates to. This makes it easier to understand the context of the update directly from your inbox.

Clickable Renewal Cards in Companies Dashboard

  • On the Companies Dashboard, clicking on the cards for Renewals This Month and Renewals Next Month now automatically filters the page to show data for the respective date ranges. This makes it faster and easier to focus on the renewals you need to prioritise.

New Filters in the Customer Menu

  • Added filters for CSM, Renewal Start/End Date, Tier, and ARR (with numeric options like greater than, less than, or between).

  • Filters apply to both the table and the dashboard widgets for a unified view.

Add Teams to Projects

  • When creating or configuring a project, you can now add an entire team in the Members tab. Selecting a team will automatically assign all its members to the project, saving time and simplifying team management.

Unwanted Features (Bug Fixes)

Correct Sorting for Task Dates

  • Previously, tasks sorted by date were being organised alphanumerically instead of chronologically. This issue has now been resolved, ensuring tasks are displayed in proper date order for better planning and tracking.

More updates are on the way!

Release Notes: October 2024

This month’s update includes a helpful new feature to make navigating contacts within your projects even easier. Here’s what’s new:

New Features

Full Embedding of Ascendr into Your Application

  • Ascendr can now be fully embedded into other applications, allowing you to keep your customers within your own platform throughout the onboarding process. By creating a menu item for 'Onboarding' in your app, Ascendr can be seamlessly integrated with a bit of technical setup. Authentication is handled behind the scenes, so your customers won’t even realise they’re using Ascendr—keeping the experience smooth and consistent within your app.

Export Companies to CSV

  • You can now export your company data to a CSV file. Simply navigate to the Companies menu on the left-hand side and click "Export" to download your data for easy offline analysis or sharing.

Task Tags

  • You can now assign custom tags to tasks. Whether you need to mark tasks as "escalated" or "blocked," task tags provide a new way to organise and track task statuses.

Project Tags

  • Custom tags can now be added to projects. Examples include "ready for invoicing," "behind schedule," or "high priority customer," giving you more flexibility in managing and categorising projects.

Tag Filtering

  • You can filter tasks and projects by tags in the task list. Task tag filters can also be applied in the task tab of a project, making it easier to find and focus on specific tasks.

Custom Project Roles

  • In system settings, you can now create custom project roles that tasks can be assigned to. This gives you more flexibility.

API Documentation

Improved Link Navigation After Login

  • Previously, when users received an email notification with a link to a specific area of Ascendr, if they weren’t logged in, they would be redirected to the login page and then taken to the projects list upon logging in.

  • Now, when users click on a notification link and are prompted to log in, they will be redirected directly to the relevant area of Ascendr related to the original link they clicked, making navigation smoother and saving time.

Enhancements

Clickable Contact Names

  • When hovering over a contact name in a project, the cursor now changes to indicate that it’s clickable. This enhancement improves user experience by making it clearer when you can interact with contact details.

Send Welcome Emails to New Contacts

  • When adding a new customer contact, you’ll now be prompted to send them a welcome email, inviting them into the system. This enhancement makes it easier to onboard new contacts and ensure they get started with everything they need.

Improved Use of White Space

  • We've updated the CSS to make better use of white space across the platform, resulting in a cleaner, more streamlined layout that improves readability and navigation.

Larger Popups

  • Popups now take up more of the screen, giving you more space to view and interact with content, making it easier to work with key information without feeling cramped.

Improved Project Creation from Templates

  • When creating a project from a template, you now have more control over the setup. After selecting a start date and template, you’ll be taken to a new page where you can set the project name and client. Additionally, for tasks assigned to roles, you can assign individuals to those roles, and the system will automatically allocate tasks accordingly. This streamlines the process and ensures the right people are assigned to the right tasks from the start.

Sticky Column Headings in Task Tab

  • When scrolling through the task tab of a project, the column headings will now stay fixed at the top of the page, ensuring that you always have context for the data you’re viewing.

Flexible Due Date Calculations for Projects

  • When creating a project from a template, you can now choose whether the system calculates due dates based on calendar days or week days. Selecting week days ensures that due dates won’t fall on weekends, providing more realistic timelines.

Timeline View in Customer Portal

  • A new timeline (Gantt chart) view has been added to the customer portal. While this view is currently read-only, it allows customers to visually track project progress and understand key milestones at a glance.

Customisable Colours for Company Tiers

  • You can now customise the colours used for representing customer tiers in the portfolio dashboards, giving you more control over how data is visually presented.

Tag Filtering Across Project and Task Views

  • You can now filter by both project tags and task tags in both the project view and the task view. This enhancement allows you to quickly find relevant items, making it easier to focus on specific projects or tasks based on their tags

Horizontal Scroll Bar on Tasks Page

  • A horizontal scroll bar has been added to the tasks page, making it easier to scroll across and view task statuses and other details on the right-hand side of the screen. This update enhances navigation, especially for users managing a high volume of tasks.

New Data Cards on Customer Portfolio Page

  • Renewals This Year: This card displays the total value of renewals due between now and 31st December of the current year, replacing the previous "Upcoming Renewal Values" metric.

  • Overdue Renewals: Replaces "Upcoming Renewals" with a total value for all renewals in the past where the customer is not marked as churned, helping you keep track of overdue accounts.

  • Renewals This Month: A new data card showing the total value of renewals due within the current month for customers not marked as churned.

  • Renewals Next Month: Displays the sum of renewals due in the following month for customers who have not churned, allowing for proactive renewal management.

  • Renewals This Quarter: This card provides the total value of renewals due within the current quarter, giving a quarterly view for customers who have not churned.

  • Renewals Next Quarter: Shows the value of renewals due in the next quarter for active customers, allowing for long-term renewal tracking.

Unwanted Features (Bug Fixes)

Preventing Duplicate Items

  • Previously, double or triple clicking when creating items like projects, success criteria, and deliverables would result in multiple duplicates. This issue has been resolved, so you’ll no longer encounter unwanted duplicate items when clicking more than once.

Stay tuned for more improvements next month as we continue enhancing your experience with Ascendr!

Release Notes: September 2024

We've made some key updates and fixes to improve your experience with Ascendr this month. Here’s a quick rundown of what’s new:

Enhancements

Toggle between Public and Internal Tasks

  • You can now set a task as internal right from the start, without having to first save it as public. This reduces clicks and ensures tasks meant for internal use stay that way.

  • Additionally, tasks can now be saved as public or internal from within the task itself, giving you more control and flexibility over your workflows.

Saving Comments on Risks

  • When saving edits to a risk, any comments you’ve added will now automatically be saved too, eliminating the need to submit the comment separately. This simplifies the process and ensures nothing gets missed.

Unwanted Features (Bug Fixes)

Task Assignment and Completion

  • Previously, updating the "assigned to" on a task and then marking it complete would fail to save the new assigned user. This is now fixed, so any changes you make are remembered.

Button Order on Tasks

  • Due to user feedback, we've restored the order of buttons on tasks. The ‘Save’ button is now back on the far right to prevent accidental clicks on ‘Complete’ instead of ‘Save.’

Stay tuned for more updates coming soon!

Release Notes: August 2024

We've introduced exciting new features and several enhancements to help you better manage your projects, customers, and workflows. Here’s what’s new:

New Features

Risk Register

  • You can now record and manage risks directly within your projects. Categorise risks, have team discussions, link risks to tasks, and track them from identification through to resolution.

Customer Portfolio Dashboards

  • Customer Dashboard: View ARR and customer count by tier. A risk assessment chart displays ARR and the number of companies in each RAG status. The dashboard allows you to filter the data, affecting all related results.

  • Renewals Dashboard: Track upcoming renewals based on contract end dates and ARR. You can also see overdue renewals. Filtering is available here as well to refine the results across the dashboard.

Currency Conversions

  • Manage currencies for customer records by setting a default system currency and exchange rates. All amounts on the customer portfolio dashboard are automatically converted to the base currency, simplifying financial tracking.

Enhancements

Task Completion Button

  • A new dedicated button allows you to mark a task as complete with a single click, making it easier to manage task progress.

Change "Activity" to "Comments"

  • We've renamed the "Activity" tab on tasks to "Comments" to better reflect its purpose.

Portal User Permissions

  • Portal users can now edit task descriptions if given permission, providing more flexibility in managing tasks from the portal.

Project Type on the Projects Table

  • A new column has been added to display the project type in the projects table. Project types can be customised in system settings, and you can assign a type when editing a project.

These updates are designed to make your workflow smoother and more efficient. Stay tuned for even more enhancements!

Show All Items in a Table

  • A new button has been added to tables, allowing you to display all items at once instead of using pagination. This makes it easier to view larger data sets without flipping through multiple pages.

Intercom Support
