Right, so you've created a project – now let's start adding some stuff to it!
In this article, we'll split the project into two sections: creating elements and managing them. The three main components of a project are deliverables, tasks, and files.
Deliverables are the milestones or benchmarks of your project. They organise your tasks, and once all tasks in a deliverable are complete, you can consider the deliverable finished.
Tasks are the building blocks used to achieve the goal of your deliverable. They can be assigned to deliverables or stand alone and are assigned to teams or team members.
Files allow you to upload related content to specific tasks or the project as a whole.
Now let's go through how to create these elements.
Creating Deliverables:
Click the 'New Deliverable' button in the top right of the Deliverables page. This triggers the 'Create Deliverable' pop-up.
Give your deliverable a title, description, and set the due date.
Once created, you'll see your deliverables listed on the Deliverables page, showing details like the number of tasks, percentage completion, and due date. Click on the title to edit details anytime.
Adding Tasks:
Click on the 'Tasks' tab to see your Kanban view.
You can create tasks in four different ways:
Option 1: Click 'New Task' to trigger the 'New Task' pop-up. Enter the title, description, status, assign to a deliverable, start date, due date, and assign to teams or team members.
Option 2: Click the 'plus' icon at the top of the columns. A small text box appears for entering the task title, pre-assigned to the selected status.
Option 3: Click 'Add Task' at the bottom of the columns. This works like Option 2 but lets you quickly add a task without scrolling to the top.
Option 4: Click 'Create from List' from the drop-down next to 'New Task.' A multi-line text box appears, with each new line read as a new task title. All tasks are created in the 'Queue' status and not assigned to a deliverable.
Tasks can be assigned to a previously created deliverable. The deliverables can be viewed and assigned from the dropdown in the target creation panel. You can also add an estimated duration of the task in minutes, hours or days as per your requirement
Assign the created task to a user
After creating the required task, you can assign the task to the relevant stakeholder/user responsible for the task. Click on “Save” to finish creation of the task
Note: You can also save a task as an “internal task” to keep visibility of the task only to a limited group of people working on the project
Adding Files:
Click on the 'Files' tab.
To upload a file at the project level, click 'Select Files' or drag and drop the file into the upload area on the right of the screen.
